THE CLARK CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Arroyo Grande, California The Clark Center for Performing Arts started as a community dream more than
20 years ago. John started work on this project in the early 1990s, leading
public planning meetings to help envision the appropriate scope and type of
facilities. A detailed program and conceptual design study was then developed. A
key part of this design was John’s ability to completely integrate
appropriate architectural design with specialized technical design for the arts. The
Clark Center opened in 2002 with over 32,000-sq. ft. of performance, production,
and support spaces, featuring a 650 seat main theatre admired for its warmth
and intimacy, as well as excellent sightlines and acoustics.

Cliff Clark, Chairman
"We have a wonderful Performing Arts Center that we can be very proud of and that the school children and public at large will enjoy and benefit from for a long number of years to come. I am continuously rewarded by people, stopping and thanking me for my part in providing the Center for them. I have had several performers tell me that this is the finest venue they have ever performed in."
